Made from 120 year old vine Mourvedre from Contra Costa County. The folks at Dirty & Rowdy maintain that the Evangelho Vineyard is a Grand Cru of California. Located in the intersection of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers, Evangelho Vineyard sits 50 miles East of San Francisco, far enough from the tourist trappings of Napa or Sonoma that you've likely never even thought of visiting.
The vineyard was planted over 130 years ago by Portuguese immigrants. And like other heritage vineyards, Evangelho has a wide variety of grapes within the vineyard. It's mostly Zinfandel, but there's also Carignan, Mourvedre, Alicante Bouschet, Muscat, Palomino and more. The site offers a unique terroir and the offers lots of blueberry in a balanced, fruity package.
