Dominique Lafon is one of the most renowned winemakers in Burgundy and makes some of the best wines in Meursault. His family winery, Domaine des Comtes Lafon, has the coldest and deepest cellars in the region. He works his vineyards under the principles of biodynamic agriculture, without using herbicides or chemical products.
His wines ferment in oak barrels and are only racked after malolactic fermentation. Dominique Lafon is one of the last to bottle in Burgundy, doing so almost two years after the harvest.
Dominique Lafon works increasingly with environmentally friendly methods, which helps him produce some of the most sought-after Burgundy wines that are mineral and elegant.
89-91 Points - "There are fully 68 barrels of the 2018 Meursault Village this year, a considerable improvement over the usual 50, and the wine is already very inviting, revealing notes of pear, Meyer lemon, hazelnuts, drawn butter and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent, with good cut to balance its mid-palate amplitude, concluding with a flavorful finish." - William Kelley (Wine Advocate, Jan 2020)
