VINEYARDS: A selection of fruit from estate vines in ‘Neirane’ (west-facing,
at 990-1,200 feet) and ‘Cristiani’ (west-facing, at 750-840 feet). Local
soils are called “marne di Sant’Agata,” a mix of sand and clay with a high
proportion of limestone, unique to Verduno.
AGE OF VINES: 20 years, on average
WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested in October. Destemmed and fermented on
indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Aged for
six months in tank, then two months in bottle.
TASTING IMPRESSIONS: Aromas of red cherries, red plums, baking spices.
Juicy, layered, light tannins.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Grilled chicken; gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce;
salumi with truffles
