Founded in 1920, today Damien Livera is at the helm, the fourth generation of Livera winemakers in Gevrey. Crafting some of the region’s more terroir-true, supple and elegant wines, Damien has quickly established himself as one of the top young winemakers in the Côte de Nuits. The Livera family makes "old world" Burgundies that are earthy, pure and incredibly complex. Everything is done by hand—pruning, tilling and harvesting.

According to Allen Meadows (BurgHound), "The Livera style is pure but serious and it appears to this observer that the tannin extraction has become finer and better integrated. Even so, the wines are ageworthy and in most vintages, they will in fact need extended patience." While he did not review the 2020, he gave the 2021 vintage 88-91 points, saying "Very pretty and nicely layered aromas include those of cool plum, newly turned earth and a dollop of wood. The sleek, delicious and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors possess a bit more depth and certainly more weight that carries over to the lingering, lightly rustic and agreeably textured finale."
