Filipa Pato Post Quercus Baga 500 ml

Availability: In stock (1)

Not yet reviewed, the 2015 vintage received 90 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Post Quercus is Pato's Baga fermented and aged in amphora, coming in at around 11% alcohol. Filipa Pato added that: "As we use the amphoras with an inox cap we are able to open for fermentation and close it to mature the wine." This is meant to be a lighter-styled Baga that is easy to drink young and even a bit cool (the winery recommends something below 60 degrees Fahrenheit). It's terrific this year, velvety and pure, with a bright feel and a slightly earthy conclusion. It seems to have respectable concentration for the style as well. The intensity of the fruit flavor is beautiful, but the earthy nuance cutting the fruit makes everything more interesting. This won't be a long ager and it won't turn into anything fantastic with age, I suspect. Filipa said she mostly agreed with my aging prediction, but it might well age more because it "is from a great terroir and very old vineyard...." It is a particular pleasure just now and it does have some structure. It is worth leaning up for the moment. It goes where it goes." (Aug 2016)
