Sequoia is the first hand-crafted sake to be made in San Francisco from organic rice grown in Sacramento and an heirloom koji. Founded in 2015, in 2019 Sequoia won gold and silver medals at the Tokyo Sake Competition. They specialize in all-natural Junmai Ginjo Nama sake meaning they use only water, rice, koji, and yeast.
NAMA-GINJO
Versatile and lively, everyday drinking style, the Nama has nice impact on the palate but a smooth, round flavor reminiscent of pear and tangerine and other citrus fruits. Like the Deer, this sake is well-mannered and graceful. Works well with a variety of foods, such as seafood or pasta, never stealing the show but the perfect supporting cast.
