Grapes are certified organic (CCOF) and our farming practices are Biodynamic. Fermentation is initiated spontaneously without the addition of commercial yeast or malolactic bacteria.
2017 is a special vintage for L. Preston in a number of ways. First, like the prior fifteen or so vintages it was vinified by our Winemaker Emeritus, Matt Norelli but then blended a year later by a committee that included both Matt and our current winemaker, Grayson Hartley -- the passing of a torch. During those blending trials one option jumped out in front of all others, the wine buzzing with energy and electricity. While it would be true to say the 2017 L. Preston has a nose of dark raspberries, a hint of wintergreen and tobacco, with juicy acidity and flavors of plum flesh and dark berries, it doesnt give the full picture. The wine is layered and multi-dimensional; a door unlocked by the union of these five estate-grown grapes, each vinified in their own way and bringing their own history to the blend. Enjoy it soon for freshness and light, or in ten years as the integration deepens, further unifying the blend..
