Azienda Agricola COS was founded in 1980 by Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti and Cirino Strano. These three old school friends started out making wines for pleasure and ended up transforming the future of Sicilian wine; COS is an acronym of their last names. The company follows the principles of biodynamic viticulture to find balance with nature and help wine express the character of its soils. The partners were among the first to start experimenting with clay amphorae, neutral vessels that do not add any characteristic flavor to the resulting wines.

100% Estate grown organic Frappato from Vittoria area. 15 year old vines, hand harvested. 300 meter elevation, flat exposition. Red clay soils with sand, silica & limestone. Spontaneous fermentation on indigenous yeasts and aging in concrete vats for 8 months.
Bright red. Floral red berries and aromatic herbs on the nose and in the mouth. Enters bright and juicy with a fresh floral red berry finish that is nicely persistent. A lovely easygoing red.
