While I’ve long been a fan of Pinotage, as many imports as I’ve tried in the U.S. I’ve never found one compelling enough to bring in for my customers. Oddly enough, nearly ALL of the Chenin Blanc from South Africa hits the spot for me. Ripe and honeyed, yet salty and mineral — the perfect foil for anything from heavier fish dishes to a traditionally roasted turkey and all the sides.
90 Points - "The 2019 Kloof Street Chenin Blanc underwent a natural ferment with minimal SO2 addition. It has a knockout bouquet for an entry-level Chenin, featuring beautiful orange blossom and apricot scents mixed with hints of lemon thyme. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and impressive tension and energy.
