The story of Barr Hill begins in 2011 with a beekeeper and distiller working together in Vermont in an area near the town of Greensboro and the Barr Hill Nature Preserve.

Barr Hill Reserve Tom Cat Gin starts with their standard gin and ages it six months in new American oak barrels. Juniper and oak mingle to create the perfect sipping gin. Tom Cat is beloved by whiskey and gin drinkers alike. The name comes from the black cat sign that used to hang outside pubs following Gin Acts instituted by the English parliament in the 1730s: these acts raised the price of gin, opening a black market of illegal production, and the cat display was a "discreet" way for patrons to know if an establishment sold gin.

90 Points - "Distilled from corn and finished with raw honey, this barrel-aged bottling is billed as a “modern day adaptation of Old Tom Gin,” a sweetened style. It has a burnished rose gold hue and the scent mingles honey and juniper. It's slightly sweet up front, with brisk pininess midpalate before it fades into vanilla and a surprising brush of peach." - Wine Enthusiast (Aug 2015)
