The legendary Spot Irish whiskies began in the early 1900s when celebrated wine and spirits merchants, Mitchell & Son, began maturing whiskey from the local Jameson Distillery. The names derive from the Mitchell’s practice of marking their maturing casks of whiskey with a mark or daub of colored paint to determine the age potential of the whiskey: Blue Spot was a 7 year old whiskey, Green Spot 10 year old, Yellow Spot 12 Year Old, and Red Spot 15 year old.
Red Spot offers a mix of ripe fruit sweetness from the Marsala seasoned wine casks. While the fruit remains, sweet red pepper and cracked black pepper add some spiciness, finished by notes of American Oak and barley with an extra long infusion of fruits and spices.
