2021 Coudoulet de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone 750 ml

Availability: In stock (1)

"Baby Beaucastel" has been a fixture as long as long as I can remember here at the shop. Bold, full-bodied and the perfect foil for heartier fall and winter dishes or a movie by the fire. If France had cowboys this would be their giddy-up wine with cote de bouef! Notes of kirsch (cherry liqueur), roasted earth and fresh-cut herbs give this delightful wine legs for days.

This wine is a terrific bargain: exactly the same as the acclaimed Chateauneuf-du-Pape, it is grown j-u-s-t outside the official region. It received 94 points from James Suckling and the following 92+ point review from Robert Parker's Joe Czerwinsi: "The 2016 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel was bottled just two weeks before my visit, hence the plus sign attached to its rating. Planted just outside the boundaries of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, the vines here average 80 years old. Mouthwatering aromas of red fruit and spice lead the way, backed by a full-bodied wine that's creamy and lush but also silky and vibrant. As always, it's one of the best Côtes du Rhône wines from a given vintage." (Aug 2018)
